Schooled

The kids have been back in school now for... 3 weeks? ish? It's kind of a blur. I am so proud of them! They all just jumped right in like moving to a new school happens every day. My biggest concern about moving is no longer a concern. Whew!

Jaxon and Hailey have been playing with new friends since day one. Every once in a while I have to tell them they can't play, for no reason except that I want to see them once in a while!

Hailey is playing the cello again this year, and Jaxon has taken up the violin, so we look forward to that day... someday.... in the future... when they can play for us a little concert. In the meantime, Jaxon has decided it's fun to sneak into Haileys room in the early morning to wake her with a gentle song. Hailey's not so excited about this, but since she's super nice, she puts up with it.

Jace has had kind of a rude awakening! There is definitely a gap between the Marana school system and the Irvine school system. Bummer for Jace, who has never had to study or do homework a day in his life. School has always been a breeze for him. Always high level classes and straight As. Now he does nothing BUT homework! Seriously. For hours. Honors pre-calculus and AP US history are killing him. Or so he thinks. It's good for him. And if anyone can buckle down and bridge that gap, Jace can!

This is Jordan's first year in high school. No sweat. He loves it. Because he's just starting high school he hasn't had to make the academic leap that Jace has. I guess. Or maybe he just doesn't worry about it like Jace does. We'll see come report card time. Academics aside, Jordan just made the Comedy Sports team (only in California...), so that's pretty cool. He's the only Freshman on the team. They learn to improv, and occasionally even have professional comedians come in and give them some pointers. They actually compete with other schools in front of judges; that should be fun to see!

So, they're off to a good start, and it's good to see them busy and happy.
