2010 Travel Journal » Day 8 - September 11
This was our first free day in Santiago this week. Many of the class chose to spend the day in the Andes Mountains, where they had the option to white water raft, hike, zip-line, go horseback riding or get a massage. Several students opted to stay in Santiago and take in the local sights. It was wonderful to have a day of rest and relaxation, and there is educational value in cultural immersion, too. Here are some pictures from our R&R Saturday.

Here's the daring group who chose to brave the icy water in teh Andes and so white water rafting. An unfortunate few wound up in the water but we didn't loose anyone!

How many people can say they have ever been horseback riding in the Andes? This lucky group can! Stacy, Kate and Katie look like they ride through these mountains every day.

Here's Santiago's equivalent to Rodeo Drive. Every upscale brand can be found on this road- Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Gucci to name a few.
